What we do

Educating. Enlightening. Empowering.

Pushkar Children Trust is a local unincorporated, nonprofit organization based in Pushkar in the state of Rajasthan, India. Launched to educate and empower children and families of the local Nat-gypsy community.

The children and their families live under extremely poor conditions. Most of our families live in tents in an established camp on the outskirts of the city. In the camp there is neither water nor electricity, and the sanitation is very bad.

Founded in 2013, the project is a registered organization in Denmark that raises funds, while all its work on the ground in Pushkar is carried out by a dedicated local team

Private School

We work closely with two large local private schools in Pushkar, where children receive education from nursery to 12th grade. We have more than 80 children enrolled who study subjects such as English, Hindi, math, arts, and computer skills.

School runs six days a week from morning to early afternoon, and all our students are sponsored by private donors from around the world.

After School Program

After school, children can come to our Project House, where our teacher helps them with homework, which is essential as their parents cannot assist.

We also share a nutritious meal of rice, lentils, beans, and vegetables to support their energy and growth.

Beyond tutoring and food, the children enjoy free play and creative activities, and visitors are welcome to join, help with homework, or host workshops 🌱

Food for Families

Every month we support the children’s families with food packages containing basic elements of daily cooking. As the families are very poor and often struggle to afford food, this support helps ensure that the children do not go to bed hungry and motivates families to keep their children in school instead of begging.

In addition, we occasionally support families with necessities such as strong, waterproof tents to ensure families can stay dry and safe during the monsoon.

How to support

Since 2013, we have grown significantly and can now offer more children a better life. This has only been possible thanks to the support of sponsors and generous donors. If you would like to help us continue our work with the children and their families, we would be very grateful.

There are currently two ways to support Pushkar Children Trust:

Support our daily work:
Through a one-time or monthly donation, you help cover the teacher’s salary, food at the Project House, food for families, healthcare, school supplies, art and sports materials, and general running costs.

Sponsor a student:
Sponsoring a child covers one student’s education at a local secondary school in Pushkar, including school fees, uniform, books, bag, and shoes. The cost is 20,000 rupees (200 euros) per year. You will receive yearly updates about your sponsored child and school life. Please contact us if you are interested or would like to know more
